Mendocino Hotel

Est. in 1878 overlooking the Pacific, the historic Mendocino Hotel has the food, views, comfort and magic to turn your vacation into a tradition.

The Mendocino Hotel is the only remaining hotel dating from the 1800s logging trade when Mendocino village was 20,000 people strong. The original structure (built in 1878) remains today encompassing the lobby, lobby bar, dining room, kitchen and the 2nd and 3rd floor guest rooms.
The Mendocino Hotel originally opened as the The Temperance House. It was considered "the one bastion of good Christian morals in a town of loggers."
In 1975, R.O. Peterson purchased the run-down hotel and retained a cadre of designers and local artisans and craftsmen to authentically restore it. Mr. Peterson gave the designers carte blanche to purchase as many period antiques as they felt were necessary to give the Hotel the right atmosphere. Approximately 90% of all the pieces date to late 19th century, the other 10% were commissioned especially for the hotel.
In keeping with the antiques, we are rumored to have a few old guests who have never checked out. A Victorian era woman who haunts tables 6 and 8 in our Victorian Dining Room also wanders the lobby and occasionally whispers the names of the front desk staff. There seem to be others, but she is the most active.
Aside from the main hotel, we offer 25 Garden Rooms offering a couple pet friendly guest rooms, gorgeous ocean view suites, ample parking and event space.
Weddings, birthdays and business events are fully accommodated here. We have a high-tech facility for your AV needs and boundless beauty for your photos and event backdrops.

Massage: We offer a variety of massage styles including couples massage. To book a reservation, call the front desk at: 707-937-0511. Please allow 24 hours notice to book or cancel a massage. Massages canceled within 24 hours will be charged at full price.

Tea & Coffee: We serve complimentary tea & coffee every morning in the lobby bar from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM along with milk, half & half and various sweeteners. Enjoy your morning beverage with a complimentary newspaper.

Restaurants: Food service begins at 8:00 AM and continues with a variety of menus until 9:00 PM. Menus are available at the front desk and on our website. Dinner reservations can be made through the front desk. We are also very aware and accommodating when it comes to special diets and food allergies, please notify your server of either.
Happy Hour is served in the lobby bar from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM nightly with tapas specials.

Concierge: The front desk doubles as a concierge desk and is staffed 24 hours a day. Feel free to contact us for reservations, suggestions, directions, or even small itineraries.

Room Service: We offer room service from any of our fabulous restaurants from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM May-October and 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM November-April.
